NOTE
It is important
for you to know that we make Funeral arrangements on your behalf
in good faith and on the understanding that what you tell us is
correct. If however for whatever reason the D.S.S. refuse to contribute
towards either the full or partial cost of the funeral arrangements,
then you are personally liable for the outstanding account in respect
of the funeral arrangements you have accepted responsibility for.
RESIDENCE TEST:
The deceased must be seen to be ordinarily resident in the UK at
time of death (the funeral must also take place in the UK)
ELIGIBILITY - PRIORITY ORDER: The surviving partner should be the
responsible person. If there is no partner then, to, the claim to
succeed, parents and all adult children of the deceased or their
own partners must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit and
be without excessive savings. This is irrespective of UK residency
to, the above relatives, irrespective of wills, executorship or
the wishes and instructions of the deceased.
ELIGIBILITY - ABSENT PARENT TEST: When single parent, in receipt
of a qualifying benefit, arranges the funeral of a child or stillborn
baby, the Adjudication Officer will have to investigate the absent
parent (who would need to be also in receipt of a qualifying benefit).
The claim will fail if the absent parent lives abroad or has savings.
CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS FUNERAL EXPENSES: Any contribution from relatives
(of the client or of the deceased) will be deducted from the award.
Similarly, donations from the charity will be likewise deducted
from the maximum of £700.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As we have always maintained the highest possible standards for a reasonable charge to the family, we are unable to offer any discount on the total cost of a funeral. However, if the account remains unsettled for more that TWELVE WEEKS after it is invoiced to you, there will be a flat rate interest of 10% added to the total sum and a further 10% flat rate interest will be added at 6 monthly intervals thereafter. If you are instructing a solicitor to handle the estate, please ensure they know of the time limit. You may wish to pay the account personally and claim from the estate to avoid the flat interest rate of 10%. APR 22%.
